When you strip a company in any industry down to its basic parts, all of them are pretty much the same.

Take restaurants, as an example...

All restaurants serve food and drinks...

All restaurants have cooks who prepare the food and waiters who serve it...

But, I'm sure when you think about the difference between, say, an upscale steakhouse verses, say, Applebees, you don't think of them as being essentially the same...

In you're mind, and in reality, they are completely different...

What makes them different is the details...

A steakhouse is very selective about their cut of meat, only choosing the finest grade...

Applebees is happy if their meat isn't rotten...

A steakhouse has a head chef that runs the kitchen, with sous-chefs who prepare the food, increasing the quality and presentation of the meals...

Applebees has a "cook" that reheats a frozen meal in the microwave...

So, while all restaurants run off the same basic pieces and parts, what makes them unique, and, therefore, what allows one to thrive and excel while another dies, is the details.

What details are you overlooking in your own life or business that can change to improve your experience or the experience of your customers?
