Morning routines have gotten a lot of attention over the past few years.
I can't count the number of books that have been written about them and the absurd amount of steps many of them recommend to get you "ready" for the day...
From taking a cold shower...
To journaling and meditation...
To clearing your chakras...
And the list goes on.
Here's the thing...I'm a fan of morning routines insofar as they support what you're trying to do.
What most people quickly overlook, though, is the most important aspect of this whole equation...and that's what you do the night before.
You can sit under the cold water until you're literally blue in the face...
But it's not going to make up for the fact that you went out and got blasted with your friends last night...
Or you stayed up until 12am snacking on potato chips, binge watching Netflix...
The end of your day sets the pace for the next day...don't forget that.
ACTION:
Instead of putting all your focus on your morning routine, start paying attention to what you're doing at night...
What are you eating that makes you feel groggy in the morning?
How late are you staying up and what activities are you doing that are draining your mental capacity for the next day?
How you spend your nights will dictate how productive you are during your days.
Until next time, here's to your 1% growth every day...
