This past Sunday I completed the hardest workout I've done in a long time...likely in the past couple of years.
Between the intensity of the exercises and 95 degree heat (we were training outside...that's where the real magic happens), I reached a point of total exhaustion about halfway through the workout.
So much so that, at around that same time, I had mentally convinced myself that I couldn't do another round...
But, after a brief moment of inner reflection (mostly to make sure I wouldn't throw up), I told myself I just had to finish the next exercise, then I could stop after that...
Then, once I finished the next exercise, I told myself I needed to finish one more exercise, then I could stop after that...
After playing that Jedi mind trick for the next 15 minutes or so, I was done with the whole workout...physically exhausted, to be sure, but mentally exhilarated that I finished.
ACTION:
In those moments that you feel like quitting because the sh*t's getting hard, just tell yourself that you're going to work through the next cycle...
That might mean working through the next day...
Or working through the next set...
Or working through the next project.
Because, if you quit, the mental damage that happens is much harder to over come than the struggle you're doing with in the moment.
Until next time, here's to your 1% growth every day...
