There's a scene in the first Matrix movie where Morpheus is explaining the system of the matrix to the hero of the story, Neo.

As they walk along a sidewalk full of people, all of which are wearing black, suddenly a women in a red dress walks by.

Neo is staring at her intently when Morpheus stops and says "were you listening to me, Neo, or were you looking at the women in the red dress?"

When Neo turns around to look for the women again, she has transformed into a bad guy with a gun.

As you travel along your own sidewalk, there will be plenty of women in red dresses that will walk by to distract you...

They'll come in the form of new "opportunities" to reach your goal faster...

Or people that want to tell you how you're doing things all wrong...

Or any other type of distraction that leads you further away from chosen path.

And while it may seem harmless to pay attention to the women in the red dress, even for a moment...

It's worth remembering that she's just a bad guy with a gun, there to pull you from your hopes and dreams.

ACTION:

The next time you feel the urge to try the "latest and greatest" idea, close your eyes, take a deep breath, and remind yourself that it's just a bad guy in disguise.
