One of the biggest reasons humans have a hard time communicating is because of a lack of empathy. Not empathy in the sense that you don't care about the other person. But empathy in the sense that you aren't working to understand them.

Because we all only have our own world view to see life through, it's easy to think that everyone else has or should have the same world view as us. But they don't. Actually, nobody on earth has the same world view as you...because they're not you.

So when it comes to having a misunderstanding with another person, realize that there are 2 people involved in the conversation...which means there are 2 different world views with 2 different perceptions of how things work.

ACTION:

​The next time someone doesn't understand what you're saying, ask them to repeat back what they DID understand. Once you figure out where your communication failed, explain yourself differently and try again.
