Over the years, I've worked with thousands of people to help them get their health and fitness in order. After a few months of work, most of those people are surprised that they're not further along in their progress.
When I hear someone say this, I follow up with some questions...
ME: "How consistent have you been with your workouts?"
THEM: "Well I've missed a handful of times over the last few months...but my work schedule has been crazy."
ME: "How consistent have you been with your nutrition habits?"
THEM: "Well I've had a lot going on with graduation parties and going out with friends, but that's normal, right?"
ME: "Did you expect to achieve your goals by only giving 70% effort?"
THEM: "Well...yeah, I thought I'd be further along than this."
If you want to achieve ANY goal, it's going to require a MINIMUM effort of 90%...that's one missed workout a month or one missed meal a week regardless of work schedules or graduation parties. That's the full price of admission...discipline, sacrifice, and effort.
ACTION:
Recognize that all people start with a resource deficit...no time, no money, no knowledge. Take some time to sit down and figure out how to overcome the deficit in front of you.
