Humans are terrible at predicting the future, yet we try to do it every day...
If you've ever skipped a workout and told yourself that "I'll do it tomorrow", you were predicting that you would feel more motivated to workout tomorrow than you are today (and you were likely wrong).
If you've ever agreed to help someone later, even though it sounds terrible to do now, you were predicting that you would be more prepared to help them in the future than you are today (and you were likely wrong).
We do this kind of future predicting all the time and, generally speaking, we end up on the wrong side of our prediction.
If, instead, you simply made a conclusive decision based on your present goals and circumstances, you'd be in a much better and, likely, much happier place, both today and in the future.
ACTION:
The next time you try to push things off to the future, ask yourself a few questions...
#1) Does doing this NOW help or hurt my goals? In the case of the workout, doing it NOW helps your goals. So, suck it up and do it.
#2) If I had to do this NOW, would I do it? In the case of helping your friend, the answer might be NO. So, just say NO.
The less you worry about predicting the future, or push things off until the future, the less complicated your life will be.
Until next time, here's to your 1% growth every day...
