As I was going for a hike the other night, I got to thinking about how the trail I was on felt so different in the spring than it did in the winter.
In the winter, the trees are all bare which allows you to have a much wider and further view...
On the trail, this allowed me to see what was ahead and plan my path accordingly.
In the spring, the trees are full of leaves and the brush and grass is grown up, which gives you a more focused view...
With a more narrow focus, I'm able to pay better attention to the details around me and make course corrections on the fly.
Both views have their benefits...you just have to know how to use them.
When you're wanting to gain a better perspective, you need to get out of the trees and open up your view so you can look further down the path.
But when you need focus on the what's in front of you, you need to narrow in on the details so you can be ready to change directions if you need to.
ACTION:
People tend to be myopically focused on their current situation and circumstances. If that's you, get yourself out of the trees and find a clearer view so you gain a better perspective.
Then bring things back into focus and get to work.
Until next time, here's to your 1% growth today...
