When it comes to ideas, humans want things to be one way or the other..

Either "this way" or "that way"...

The truth of the matter is, both things are usually right at the same time.

Take the political landscape for instance...

People on the left are leaning heavy on the idea of "equality", while people on the right are saying "how much more equal can we get?"...

The truth is that society is more equal today...by far, no exceptions...than any other society has ever been in the history of human kind...

And, it's also true that there's room for improvement...there always will be given the nature of humans.

The same can be said for almost every idea that the right and left argue about every day.

The problem is, not being able to recognize the truth that lies on the other side of your argument makes it harder to make progress...

Because, as is human nature, when you ignore and detract from the "other side", they only dig their heals in harder.

ACTION:

Remember the saying "a man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still" the next time you feel tempted to ignore the rational argument from somebody else.

There's a chance that they're right...

And, if that's the case, it only makes sense for you to switch your position, because the goal in life is to slowly move towards the truth.
