There’s nothing more frustrating than having an argument with someone about something, only to figure out, an hour into the argument, that you were fighting for two different ideas. This is the crux of the definition game…that people generally have different definitions for an idea, and that is what really causes a conflict.

But the definition game also be used to manipulate you into thinking differently. When the right incentive is given, people will gladly change their definition of terms or ideas to fit their own narrative. And this is where critical thinking really comes into play.
