I went to a wedding this past weekend, which I wasn't particularly excited about. It was the first wedding I'd been to in a few years, and definitely the first one I'd attended since getting divorced.
Of course, being divorced has nothing to do with why I'm not a fan of weddings...contrary to how it might look on social media, I'm not exactly Mr. Extrovert.
And yet, at this wedding I happen to sit next to someone who was willing to talk about something besides the newest TV series.
It turns out he works with AWS (Amazon Web Services...yes, Amazon also runs most of the internet) by taking their new hires and building their personal and professional skills...which, as it turns out, is right up my alley.
As we were talking, he mentioned that he wasn't particularly looking forward to coming to the wedding either...
"...but, you know, after talking with you, making a connection, and developing some new ideas for my business, I can say it's been worth the trip."
I told him "ditto"...
While you may not be excited to go to a particular event, meeting, seminar, or wedding, you also never know who you're going to meet or what you're going to learn by going.
Don't close off your mind to possibilities.
ACTION:
Sure, a lot family gatherings, weddings, seminars, or meetings can be boring or intimidating because you don't know who's going to be there. But it's worth keeping your mind open to the possibility of a random encounter that has an impact on your life.
Until next time, keep your mind open...
