I completed my 4th Tough Mudder this past weekend with a handful of friends.
If you've never done or heard of Tough Mudder, it's an obstacle course race in the mud, that's pretty tough (hence the name).
But it's not really a race...it's more like a challenge.
Because there is no timing or placement...there's only the beginning and the end...and it's up to you and everyone around you to get from here to there.
The interesting thing about challenges like that is, most people go into the event doubting themselves and come out of the event feeling unstoppable.
The "sudden transformation" happens between the beginning and the end...when you're struggling to get over obstacles, pushing yourself to keep going, and helping others to make it to the end.
In other words, it's by overcoming an obstacle, even though you doubted your abilities to do so, that you build a higher belief in yourself...that belief doesn't just pop up out of nowhere.
ACTION:
You rarely go into a challenge fully prepared to overcome every obstacle you'll be confronted with. But that shouldn't stop you, because that's where growth happens.
So find something challenge to do, set your feelings and emotions aside, and attack it with all of your might.
Until next time, here's to your 1% growth everyday...
